Prime Esecuzioni

The core idea of the project is to launch a call for scores aimed at composers. In a subsequent phase, one or more meetings will be held on an annual basis, exclusively featuring previously unpublished works by composers without any restrictions regarding age, gender, or geographical origin. These meetings also serve as a valuable opportunity for discussion and analysis among performers, the attending audience, and the composers themselves. Participation in the event is entirely free of charge, and there is no admission/participation fee for submitting documentation or receiving audio/video recordings. Read the full announcement.

RULES

You can read all of the rules in the official Announcement of the event.

ANONYMITY

Scores must be submitted directly thorugh the Form. The organizer will then forward them to the designated ensemble in strictly anonymous form.

ORGANIC

The ensemble will be determined well in advance and will vary for each edition. This will be a key factor for composers, who must submit a piece specifically written for the announced instrumentation, not published by a publisher and never previously performed in public.

THE EVENT

The selected pieces will be performed in public in one or more sessions, structured as a musical marathon. Each performance will be fully recorded, with dedicated microphone setups for each instrument. The recording file will be shared directly with the respective composers, who may use it freely according to their preferences.

DURATION

Compositions must be between 3 and 8 minutes in length.

DEADLINES

In preparation for the annual event, the instrumentation will be announced in the official call at the beginning of the year, along with details regarding the venue and date (or an approximate timeframe) of the event.

The primary aim of the project is to encourage the creation of new musical works and, most importantly, to ensure their public performance. At the same time, it challenges composers to be extremely clear in their writing, as they will not be able to communicate with the ensemble until after the first performance. Additionally, this annual event seeks to establish a reference point for those interested in experiencing what composers bring forward each year. It offers an opportunity to explore how musical writing evolves over time within our sphere of influence and to observe how different artistic personalities approach the same task, theme, or instrumentation.

Too often, works created in composition classes remain unperformed due to the difficulty of finding interpreters willing to invest their time. However, the best works deserve to be performed, and this event provides an important opportunity to showcase them. For these reasons, a collaboration has already been established with the A. Casella Conservatory, a common academic foundation for all members of the collective. This partnership not only supports young composers and performers but also allows the conservatory to promote its students and alumni. To further highlight and reward composers' work, two special prizes have been established, awarded at the sole discretion of representatives from the sponsoring organizations:

Baccano Prize – Sponsored by the Identità Musicali Association, this prize grants the performance of one or more selected compositions in a dedicated concert organized as part of their concert season in Francavilla al Mare.

MEP Prize – Established by Music Ensemble Publishing, this prize consists of the publication of one or more compositions deemed particularly deserving.
